  • Streamline Secures Orkney - Shetland Waste Shipping Contract

The transport contract awarded by Orkney Islands Council involves the movement of some 10,000 tonnes of waste each year, packed in adapted seafreight containers and shipped on Streamline’s twice weekly service between Orkney and Shetland on the container vessel MV Daroja, with onward road haulage on Shetland to the disposal points.

Streamline Operations Director Phil Bremner said, “we are delighted to have retained this important contract and are looking forward to continuing to provide Orkney Islands Council with an effective solution for the Shetland transport.” He added, “the work fits very well with our regular sea transport services north from Aberdeen to Orkney and Shetland.

The inter-island aspect to the contract offers a particular efficiency allowing the authorities in Orkney and Shetland to link to very good effect.”
